  16. ║    ║  ║ ║ ║ ║ ║ ║    ╚══╗   patible computers.  It's  extremely  difficult to
  17. ╚══╛ ╚══╝ ╩ ╩ ╩ ╩ ╚══╛ ╘══╝   produce graphics that take  full advantage of the
  18.                               many  displays  that the  PC  supports.   You are
  19. often forced to go for the lowest  common denominator:  the PC's extended-ASCII
  20. character set.  You can do a lot with that character set.  Still ... is it art?
  21.  
  22. But nobody expects comics to be very artistic.  I'm sure you've seen some funny
  23. cartoons that are very skimpy in the art department.   Heck,  if the punch-line
  24. makes you snicker, who cares if it's Rembrandt material?
  25.  
  26. Below, we present a sample cartoon.   You'll have to squint a lot to make sense
  27. of the pictures.   But  producing  such a cartoon is  certainly  an interesting
  28. challenge -- and we challenge you to make a better one!

  30. To be sure, PC-ASCII is not a convenient medium for art.  But at the same time,
  31. you can say the same thing about Haiku poetry!   So have a look, and see if you
  32. can't do better!
